Default HBV ?

Is this another seller gimmick ?
I see more and more eBay sellers use this term, and can't see where or
how they come up with these High Book Value numbers.

I assume, for example, that they are selling a coin that is graded VF,
and priced at $50, but the HBV would be $2500 if it was MS-64.

Why not? We used to see ads for worn coins advertised as "Once a brilliant
uncirculated!" It's all a ploy to sucker in the unwashed. My advice is to
avoid these hucksters like the plague.
