Default More chicken stamps

Yesterday I told you that only one day after deciding to collect chicken
stamps, I had increased my holdings by 100%, two items (a stamp and a
cover). Today, I have added two mo

-- a wartime German Easter card in a cover mailed by a soldier in a flak
unit; oddly, it shows a child, a chicken, an egg and a raw *broken* egg! I
wonder what the explanation for that is....

-- I also was surprised to find on the back of a Russian airmail cover a
stamp picturing a young woman feeding a flock of chickens. And someone
predicted that this collecting of chickens-on-stamps-and-covers would be
hard! I'm afraid the problem will be quite the opposite, but as usual I'll
be looking for items that I really like. I turned down several chicken
stamps yesterday.

My preferred chicken stamp appeared in UK, in 1990. A maxicard and a FDC of
it can be seen on the page:

http://www.values.ch/London90.htm

The maxicard is also shown on:

http://www.values.ch/PASIC/4beginners.htm

Nice Page Victor.
I am unable to assist you with 40 years hence,
how about 40 years back?

http://groups.msn.com/Stamps/shoebox...oto&PhotoID=90

Perhaps the Poms have one in London every year,
These covers are from the 1950 exhib. ( I wasn't there at the time )
Use of the Maltese Cross was evident then for the exhibition.

Rodney:

Did you not notice how Victor's "chicken" strangely resembles a duck?

As to your London Stamp Exhibition post, that reminds me of that old
chestnut....

How do you make a Maltese cross? ......

Cheers

Ooooops, a wrong classification, sorry :-)))

Actually, it comes from a "false friend", in another language.

Victor Manta

PS. Just a short story. When I was a child, we had a hen who hatched some
duck eggs (apparently the mother ducks weren't patient enough for this
activity). Two days after being brought to life, the ducklings went directly
to the nearest lake and entered into the water. I cannot describe here the
high jumps and the warnings that the desperate hen has emitted when she has
seen what have been doing her dear "chickens". In the meantime me and by
brother were laughing to death, and the ducklings made nice circles on water
surface, without paying the slightest attention to their scarred mother.

Ok this is too wierd. I just finished reading a paper a Dutch prof
recommended and was stumped by huge blocks of untranslated German quotes.
Then I check out this thread. Too wierd.

Hi Rodney:

I believe the London Internationals are held every ten years.
Stampex seems, more or less, to be an annual event.

Sorry. This means: Yes, Blair, this is a duckling, and not a chicken. :-))
