Along those lines, how are our copper pre-1982 Lincolns faring value-wise?
I haven't read much about the relatively high cost of minting cents and
nickels lately. Maybe people have become content with cost-averaging for
production of our circulating coins as a group.

According to coinflation.com :
"» There are 0.6514 pounds of copper and 0.0343 pounds of zinc in $1
face value of copper cent(s).

» A roll of copper cent(s) has 50 coins and is valued at $1.06 when
copper is at $3.2010 / lb and zinc at $0.9184 / lb (exact value is
$1.0582371229).

Here we go!!! Precious metals continue to rise at a pretty good clip.
Current gold is $1246, up about $45 from Monday's close. Silver at
$19.63, up $1.13 since Monday. Is $20 silver and $1300 gold by Friday
a possibilty?
