scott catalogue stamp prices appreciation from 2000 to 2004

i would appreciate if anyone can answer the question of what the
average price increase in scott catalogues from 2000 to 2004 has been
for U.S. pre-civil war stamps

Guy, Sir:
Surprising that no one responded, preferably someone who possesses
both 2004 and 2000 Scott publications, so that they could do a simple
mathematical ratio.
For example:
1991 Scott 29 (5c brown) 200. versus 275. in 1998 Scott.
1991 Scott 38 (30c orange) 300. versus 400. in 1998 Scott.
1991 Scott 7 (1c blue imp) 85. versus 140. in 1998 Scott
printed numbers 585 versus 815 for thosethree fairly common pre-Civil
War stamps. BUT those printed numbers do not tell the whole story,
because the condition of each individual stamp will not be the same as
the condition which the price applies to. There have been
modifications in the Standards used for establishing those artificial
printed numbers from year to year, so you may be comparing apples to
oranges to pears.
My gut feeling is that regardless of the ratio someone would derive by
applying 2000 and 2004 "printed numbers" to those same 3 common
stamps, the actual selling price of those 3 in average condition would
actually be lower in 2004 than it was in 2000, perhaps about $300 cash
buys all three as a lot.

Someone else take it from there?
