Default Pelikan M400 Clip Ring

Hi all! I received a beautiful Pelikan M400 White Tortoise for
Christmas and have a question. While removing the cap, I noticed that
the clip turns slightly. It seems that the clip ring isn't keyed or
otherwise firmly in place under the button on the top of the cap. If
the cap's button is a press fit, I'd say that it could be seated a
touch deeper and that would stop the clip from turning. If the cap's
button is threaded, I'd say that it isn't tight. Does anyone have any
ideas about how I might be able to stop the clip from turning, other
than sending it to Pelikan?

Thanks and Merry Christmas to all!

You're a lucky guy - that's a beautiful pen! Since it is brand-new,
I'd send it back to Pelikan/Chartpak rather than fix it myself
especially if you're not experienced in dis-assembling fountain pens.
It may be a factory error or not, but why take the chance when Pelikan
offers good service?

Good luck with it - it's a beauty!

The ring just above the clip is actually a threaded nut. When removed,
the inner cap falls out, and the clip comes off. I use a small
needle-nosed pliers with rubber tubing on the tips to remove or tighten
this ring.
Great pen! Enjoy!
