Default Speech recognition

I've been toying with the idea of using speech
recognition software, instead of OCR with some of my
shorter articles.

Is anyone using speech rec at the moment
and could possibly comment on it's ease of use / set up etc?

Thanks

Thank you John,
yes, the time consumed correcting
may outweigh it's advantages.
OCR has become accurate and reasonable fast.

| At the moment, no, I'm not using it. I did use two types some years back.
| My working experience was that it required some fair 'training' and was best
| done with a headset type mic to have the mouth/element relationship
| absolutely constant.
|
| IIRC the IBM program was the best at -that- time.

Some years ago I spent a very long evening at work training my computer to
understand my voice with Dragon Naturally Speaking. After 5 or 6 hours, I /
it passed every recognition test in the book (the software came with a book
with hundreds of sentences you had to read to the machine until it / I got
it right).

Having done all that, I used it to write an email to my brother. Being of a
perverse nature, I sent it in the form that the software recognised it,
leading him to send me a reply asking me if I was drunk / insane. Getting
progressively more annoyed with the stupid software, I discovered that it
wouldn't let you train it to use any obscenities so I sent Bob another email
complaining about the ducking barstool who had written this load of sheet
and I haven't touched it since.
