Default Nondenominated US stamps

Dec 22, 2003 issue of Linn's has a nice page (32) showing all the
nondenominated stamps the US has created so far, picture, face value,
Scott# and dates of issue. If I counted correctly there are 123 of them
e todo. Another nifty little collection of stamps to assemble.

The USPS page http://pe.usps.gov/text/qsg/q022.htm shows (If I've
counted correctly) 55 different non-denominated stamps and postal
stationaries. But, of course, there are many varieties of some of these.

I'll have a look at it, thanks. The Linns page shows 52 different
designs but includes the various Scott#s under each that are likely the
variations. Examples: Scott 1735-36 & 1743, Scott 2908-10, Scott
2602-04, 2907, 3270-71.

To avoid the "non-denominated" confusion, I suggest calling the US issues
"Fixed Value NDs". Any better suggestions?

However the USPS insists that they do have 'denominations' ... as using a
non-denominated "first class" which wasn't issued for the current rate

will
short pay a letter.

The UK GPO, OTOH, considers a First Class non-denom to be always that -

good
for a first class mailing.
