Default 1960 & 70s Half Dollars

Hi All,
I tried to post this before but I think the cyber gremlin shot it down.
I have a box filled with half dollars 1960 and 70 including the ones with 2
dates on them. (1776-1976)
Before I wrap them up and bring them to my bank are they worth more then 50
cents?
Also, My Dad passed away over 20 years ago and I have his coin collection of
about 10 large books. Is there any way of selling this collection without
being taken? Not being a collector I would be a good target for a scam
artist.
Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

George - NY

Half dollars dated 1964 and before are 90% silver and worth about 10-11X
face value
Halves from 1965-1970 are 40% silver and worth 4-5X face.
Halves dated 1971 and later are generally worth 50 cents.

Oh and if you find any 1970 halves, they have collector value.
