Dag-nabbit - lousy albums!
Dakota wrote:
I lost another one! There are log rods/pins used in the Scott 2-post albums. These rods slip down along the spine and then through holes in the posts. Somehow in the past 3 weeks I've lost two of the pins. I used a piece of coat hanger the first time - then found the lost rod. Today I lost another, was able to repair it using the 'found' rod. I've already tried gently bending/bowing them - hasn't worked. Does anyone know how to keep those blasted things in place? As long as I have your attention, does anyone know a good way to repair the holes in pages for these albums where the page has ripped thru the perforation? Handshakes, Dakota I've long given up fighting with Scott 2-post album binders. I've moved one set of pages into a Scott 3-ring binder, but don't really like it. All the rest of my Scott pages are in oversized D-ring binders that I bought from Subway. I got these a few years ago and bought them at a stamp show rather than from the catalog, so I don't know the Subway item#. I have been using clear plastic self-adhesive hole reinforcement rings with the pages in these binders. = Eric |

Handshakes, Dakota My Scott National has these pins, and they have right angle bends at the TOP of the rod....impossible to slip out if they are stored upright! Not quite sure how you "lost" them. If you misplaced after removing them to add pages...that's another matter. Any wire of the proper diameter should do...just bend over the top of the rod about 1/4-3/8" (6-10 mm) and it cannot fall out. As for repairing the slots on the pages, I have found that the clear plastic tape sold for sealing packages is very tough. Put a piece long enough to overlap the torn area on BOTH sides of the page (so you don't have any adhesive unexposed). Then using a sharp Xacto or razor blade, cut out the slot and you will have a better than new page! Paul Kliauga |

I have not had this problem either - my bends are always on the top as well. As for repairing the slots on the pages, I have found that the clear plastic tape sold for sealing packages is very tough. Then using a sharp Xacto or razor blade, cut out the slot and you will have a better than new page! Good idea - the tape is thin enough so it won't bulge the pages if more than 1 page is affected. My Scott National has these pins, and they have right angle bends at the TOP of the rod....impossible to slip out if they are stored upright! Not quite sure how you "lost" them. I lost them by taking the albums out of the house to a local dealer. Somwhere in his front lawn - or less likely my driveway (I've looked very carefuly) that missing pin is hiding. As for repairing the slots on the pages, I have found that the clear plastic tape sold for sealing packages is very tough. Hmmmm. I do have a roll of that someplace around the house. I'll try it - thanks! Handshakes, Dakota |

Scott sells mylar reinforcement strips for both 2 post pages and 3 ring pages For 2 post pages item ACC100 Page 35 in latest Amos catalog Bill Thank you for this information - sounds much better (probably much more expensive too) than packing tape. I'll chase them down. Handshakes, Dakota |

As long as I have your attention, does anyone know a good way to
repair the holes in pages for these albums where the page has ripped thru the perforation? Scott sells mylar reinforcement strips for both 2 post pages and 3 ring pages For 2 post pages item ACC100 Page 35 in latest Amos catalog Short folow-up. Amos site seems to be partially down - I was unable to enter the item number on-line. I called their Customer service line and it was cheerfully answered - but by a call center - not somebody at Amos. The number ACC100 is correct and the reinforement strips are only $3.95 (maybe $3.98 for a package of 48. Handshakes, Dakota |
