Default TECH: Rock-ola 431 blows fuse

Hi,
I just got a Rock-ola 431 which was not working and still had a record
on the turntable. One of the slo-blo fuses was blown (1.6A, 28VDC,
MECH.). I manually turned the motor to pick up the record and put it
back. I replaced the fuse and turned it on and the mechanism picked
up the record and placed it on the turning turntable and then the fuse
blows. Could it be something in the amp? Since the fuse holder says
MECH I was thinking it was something with the mechanism (makes sense)
but everything appears ok and works up to the point of the record
playing. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Bob

Get a schematic!!!!!!!!! The only reason a fuse blows is because the circuit
is drawing too much current. Now you need to figure out the reason. Most
circuits are radial in nature, meaning there is one power source attached to
one load. You may either have a short or a motor going bad and drawing
excess current. Usually the best thing to do is to start eliminating some of
the factors that make up the load (i.e. unplug the motor, lights, etc) until
the fuse quits blowing. Most important, never stick a higher rated fuse in
the fuseholder.

The jukebox did have a bad microswitch. It wouldn't shut off the
motor which loads the records and would blow the fuse. Thanks again
for all of your help. Bob
