Default Life, The Universe and Everything

At a library book sale recently, I acquired an 8th printing of Douglas
Adams' "Life, the Universe and Everything" to replace the BCE edition
that I had. I was surprised to find that the BCE edition was bigger in
size than the regular edition, quite the opposite of what one expects.
True the regular edition had a better binding, stated the price and the
edition. But why the size reversal, if anyone knows?

The Doubleday group of book clubs changes the size of books because they print
all their books in one size for the price savings. In most cases, this means a
bit smaller than the original, but in some cases, it means increasing the size.

Ah, thank you. A reasonable explanation exists after all.

This post caused me to go look at my copy. It's a Harmony (Crown) stated

first and it's quite small. Is that the publisher of your copy?
