Mudcat Grant spent 14 years pitching in the major
leagues. He came up with the Cleveland Indians
in the Spring of 1958, and went 10 & 11 that year,
with a 3.84 ERA.

In 1961, the year of this card, he went 15 & 9 with
an ERA of 3.86 for an Indians team who finished
below .500 for the year. He finished 6th in the
league in wins, and 6th in shutouts.

Mudcat was traded to the Twins early in the 1964
season. In 1965, his first full year with the Twins,
he won 21 and lost 7, leading the league in wins,
winning percentage, and shutouts while helping
his team win the pennant. He was selected to
the All Star team this year. He had also been
selected in '63.

The Twins faced the Dodgers in the '65 World
Series, and while the Twins lost the 7 game
Series, Mudcat won two of the three games
he pitched.

After the 1967 season, Mudcat was traded to
the Dodgers where he was used mainly in a
relief role.

He was drafted by the expansion Expos after
the '68 season, and was traded to the Cardinals
early the '69 season. He spent 1970 and 1971
being bounced back and forth between
Oakland and Pittsburgh.

Mudcat had a lifetime 3.63 ERA.

He went on to a broadcast career in the '70s.
