1961 Topps Baseball Omissions??
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The most famous omission of the 1961 Topps baseball set is, of course, Maury Wills. It seems that the guy who signed players to card contracts didn't see much potential in Mr. Wills when he first came up, and he ended up signing with Fleer. There is another glaring omission in the set. Where is Pancho Herrera's regular card?? He has the "Sporting News All Star" card shown here, front and back. http://home.triad.rr.com/ovis/images/Herrera-a.jpg http://home.triad.rr.com/ovis/images/Herrera-b.jpg Even though 1961 was his last year in the Majors, he did play in 126 games. Not counting players who came up mid-season, who else should have a card in '61 and doesn't?? ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- John Wade |
