Default Regular Posting of FAQ's

Once upon a lifetime ago we had people here vying for the priviledge of
regularly posting the NG `FAQ's'.

Such service was performed by an individual who was known for his
cycling activities, who basically set up a.b.p.n and who has in the
interim seemingly disappeared into the background or obscurity. Sad
truth is, I can't even remember his name, and i'm feeling a little
guilty about that because I feel I should. I suppose I should do a
google search.......

Anyway, i'm not proposing myself as the replacement `FAQ poster' (I
wouldn't even know where to find a copy of them) but I do believe that
they should be posted with a certain degree of regularity to help
newbies and encourage new posters to post about coins in a way that is
likely to get friendly response.

Anyone any ideas or comments?

I'd be glad to perform that service for the group. I've been looking for
a way to contribute in a positive way. My knowledge of coins is so
limited that I can't be of any help in a more direct way so that would
help me out.

If someone would let me know where to find the FAQ I'd gladly repost it
on a regular basis - the group should decide at what frequency.

It was David Ryan. :-)

You mean this one?

http://www.telesphere.com/ts/coins/faq2.html

And a Google search result:

http://groups-beta.google.com/groups...coins+insubjec
t:FAQ&start=0&num=10&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&lr=&as_drrb=q&as_qdr=&as_mind=1&as_min
m=1&as_miny=1981&as_maxd=20&as_maxm=12&as_maxy=200 4&safe=off&

or

http://makeashorterlink.com/?I2445221A

As for frequency, I'd suggest the 1st and 16th of the month. Once every two
weeks or twice a month should be sufficient.

FWIW I have parts 1, 2 and 3 of the FAQ that you had a link to on file. The
FAQs last updated dates a Part 1 "What's It Worth"- 27 November 2001
(53K); Part 2 - "Collecting And Investing Topics" 20 March 2003 (163K); Part
3 "Glossary Of Numismatic Terms" - 21 October 2003 (85K).

Want me to email them to you?

Many thanks for that memory refresh Jerry.

My next question is has anyone heard of or from David of late? I
remember that he used to be an advocate of `market grading'....that used
to be good for a few whacks with the `dead horse' club. he used to also
buy top end stuff via Teletrade as I recall.

I'd go with that

All FAQ sections probably should be updated.
I am aware of a few links that no longer work.
How do we revise it ?

It has been a looooong time since David has posted, iirc. I always read his
posts and I think he was a valuable member of rcc. I have no idea what has
happened to him.

Since Scot's willing to take up the slack, I'd offer you mail the FAQs to him
and, maybe, post them to RCC. Then we can bump heads and update them.

FWIW, I used the keyword "FAQ" in my advanced google search. Rather than check
all of the hits, I just checked a few of the most recent and found them to be
similar.
