Just wanted to know if anyone gives their mail carrier a holiday gift as a
reward for treating all of our precious through-the-mail autographs with
care?

I usually do, except for one year when the carrier on my mail route would do
anything in his power to cram all the manila envelopes into my mailbox,
despite the double layer of cardboard and the red "Do Not Bend" stamp that
was affixed to each. I still have the creased and wrinkled Peter Falk auto
as proof.

I almost contemplated getting a larger mailbox, or a mail slot mounted in my
door. Even my dog would have treated mail coming in through the mail slot
more gently that did the mail carrier

The past couple of years I've put homemade cookies in the box for him. He's
never failed to leave a thank you/Christmas card the next day.

I was but last year did not and unsure of this year. Usually I was
putting 20.00 in a card. But the problem is there is for the past two
years, a lot of different carriers on this route. I never seem to get
the same one and often, the week of Christmas it's definately someone
new.

Also, I got a little annoyed, as I never ever got a thank you. I had
put the card out a couple years and they got it, but I don't know if
the regular mail person Is the one that did it most often) got it or
not.

I have been watching and it's been two different carriers mainly this
year. So I might pass.

Another problem is the paper people. up until last year we would get
a card or a leaflet in the paper with the paper people's names and
address on it, but last year we did not. I know you can leave a tip
in your mail payment, but I did that in Jan of last year and again, I
don't know if they got it! Never a word or a thank you. So I think
both might be out of luck this year.

I don't now as I have a PO Box and have no idea who puts my envelopes
in there.

When I had a mailbox we always used to put in a tip until the year our
not so bright mail man told me I "was getting chuncky."

That was nice
