Sheet of Fifty Mint JFK Memorial Stamps
Howdy! A sheet of fifty (50) mint JFK Memorial Postage Stamps have come into my possession. I have no idea about the art of stamp collecting and thought I should try to find out anything I can about this sheet of stamps. Are these worth anything or should I either put them up for fifty years....or go ahead and use them? They are pretty blue with a little pic of JFK and "the flame". It's reads a quote from his inaugral address from Jan 20, 1961: "And the Glow From That Fire Can Truly Light the World". It also reads "1917 - John Fitzgerald Kennedy - 1963". To the side of the bottom left stamp (on the sheet) is the number 27800 (no idea if this means anything at all). Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much!

Thanks so much! -- LostInGeorgia Hello, I know the stamp you mean. The only way I can think of to get more than 80% of the $2.50 face value is to put it on e-bay. Sometimes people get excited by a good description like yours and bid things up beyond their market value. At stamp shows, one can buy such commemoratives to use on postage at face or 90% of face. This is disappointing, I know. I would like to have told you they're worth a million. If you think you'd like to start stamp collecting, I'd be happy to give you a bunch. |
