Ahem. I gave two clues.

Maybe I should have said, " I had no clue as to how to interpret your
clues".

"I don't own one and didn't remember that it lacked all three

mottos."

Honestly, I have never looked at any coin to see what mottoes are

there. I
would have to pull out my Oregon (don't read that out loud if you
are

with
company, you may be misunderstood) or my Stone Mountain ( oh what
the heck, go ahead and read it out loud) just to see what mottoes
are on those

coins
or lacking.

I may never look at an Oregon or Stone Mountain the same again. I
may give up collecting commems altogether now. Someone already
ruined the Delaware for me by making some reference to a baby with
some intestinal problems...

Hahaha! I went to eBay to get a good look at a Delaware to see what
the heck you were talking about. A couple of years ago, a fellow
collector in the local coin club wanted to sell me a Delaware and I
held it for awhile, studied it, mulled it over and didn't make a
deal, mainly on account of one unsightly mark on the coin. Viewing
that coin, though, caused me to put Delaware rather far down on my
list of commems to buy, because I just wasn't impressed with the
design. But I didn't recall seeing a baby or intestines. One look at
the auction image, courtesy of one of our "favorite" sellers;
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=39662868 17

and I saw the gaseous brat right away. I have to read the commem
book now, because I can't figure out what is meant by that element of
the design. A cloud wouldn't have rays emanating from it. Raindrops? The
sun, behind the cloud? Something entirely different?
What am I missing? I'll read about the Delaware this evening.

Bill

I just pulled out my copy of Anthony Swiatek's commem book. All he seems to
have to say about it is "Above the church appears the sun's rays piercing
the clouds".

Bingo! Correct answer, Bill. I see you also figured out your own clues.
Good job.

So, what did you win? D

What did I win? Well, I have won several auctions lately. I am
particularly pleased with this one;

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=3964390355

Coins are in my possession ( all have killer luster, or close to killer, and
I grade 62, 62 or 63, and shot 64).

I haven't received the classic commemorative halfs that I have most recently
won. I won a Connecticut half that I hope I will like, but I suspect I
won't. I'll just have to wait. I won at a good price anyway, at least I
think it was;

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=3964184453

I have seen ICG do conservative grading on some early commems, and I have
seen at least one ICG commem that I thought they were a point over. As best
as I can tell from the tracking site, this seller hasn't shipped yet, even
though I paid with Paypal on 3/14.

Sigh. I also won this one;

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=3964443853

and I was totally enthusiastic, until I was showing the auction page to my
manager and it occurred to me that the one Texas I have could be the same
date and mintmark. A check with my database showed the one keeper that I
have was in fact the same date and mint mark and a coin that I like very,
very much. I own this one;

http://showcase.netins.net/web/bills...ins/Texas1936D

If I could afford it, I would buy and keep every commem that looked good to
me. It wouldn't make any difference if I already owned ten of one date and
mint mark. However, I can't afford to do that, so this recent purchase will
mean I will have to make what may be an agonizing decision as to which coin
I keep and which coin I convert to cash. I am not looking forward to it and
I made a stupid mistake bidding on the recent 36-D Texas.

Nowhere close to the answer you were looking for, John, but anywho, that's
my answer to your question.

Bill

Looks like you got a good price for the three coins. Congrats1 It's
always a good feeling when raw coins look as good in person as they do
on the auction page.
