Looking Back #80 - Scott Renumbers 1847's
Scott Renumbers 1847's
The 5=A2 and 10=A2 1847 stamps are numbers "1" and "2" in the next Scott catalog instead of "28" and "29," and the 1875 reproductions, now numbered "29D" and "29E," become "3" and "4." Nos. 5 to 29 will be utilized eventually, and a general reshuffling of all U. S. number is likely in future editions. Vol. I of the Standard Catalog is expected the end of this month. =20 - George B. I think the Krause approach to handling the special printings (special
classification) made a lot more sense. The earlier issues were not postally valid when issued.
