Queen Victoria Revenue Used in Victoria in 1961
I place the date of this manuscript cancel as 5/17/61 or for those inclined 17/5/61. Now, after how many kings, queens and different royal players, this stamp comes out of the closet to be used. http://www.adirondack-pc.com/VictoriaQVRev.jpg Now, these stamps are definitely a quandary. It is revenue usage, I don't think there's any doubt. These Stamp Duty issues could be used as postage as well. I wonder if this beast is an original or state reprinted copy? I have - and have seen many others of this set used in the '50s / '60s. According to the Barefoot revenue catalog of 1996, this is the 1909 2/6 Orange. Even so, this would be very late to use a QV image. In 1961 it is now 4 royalty personages away! Victoria is a specialist's nightmare - or like Machin folk - a field of plenty. |
