Default Price FBT?

One of my books on the dust cover has the price FBT $23.00. What does
FBT stand for?

Are you sure it doesn't say FPT? This is an acronym for Freight Pass
Through, and essentially means that the per unit cost of shipping the
book is included in the book's price. Another possibility: some
publishers print the acronym of the book's title on the inside flap.

Regards, Tim

That's FPT.

From the FAQ--FPT: "Freight Pass Through." This acronym, found on some
dust jackets, means that the price includes shipping. The presence of
this acronym is an indication that the book is not a book club edition.

Actually, I think this is wrong. I believe "freight pass-through" is an
alternative system to the publisher picking up the shipping cost. It
would be more correct to say that the FPT means that the bookseller is
invoiced at a lower price (usually by about 50 cents) than the one shown
on the jacket. In other words, the cost of shipping is "passed through"
to the retail purchaser--i.e. you.

Okay, not wrong--since I said more or less the same thing in different
words. Coffee, please!
