Parker 51 ink

It was fast drying and also a lot more saturated with color than other
contemporary inks. In actual fact, it was problematic for, I suppose,
other reasons, too and was eventually discontinued. It was, in many
ways, a lot like the modern Penman .... with similar problems.

Stick with good old Scrip or Quink .... they've been around for so many
years cuz they're just flat good ink. I know there are other brands with
brighter colors and yadda yadda yadda ...... but if that's what you
want, you also run the risk, in certain cases, of doing some damage to
your pen. That damage may only be cosmetic, but it could also be worse.

If you're feeling brave, the original ink for the 51 - called
SuperChrome - is still commonly found at flea markets and shows. If it
looks reasonably good you can try it out and see how you like it.
