Default Library Book Sale Finds

Today, and none of the books I got were ex-lib;

1. 3rd printing, J. D. Salinger, Franny and Zooey, very
good with good dust jacket. I have a 10th printing.

2. 4th printing, Vachel Lindsay, The Congo and Other Poems.
Fine condition.

I just examined the dust jackets on the two Salingers above.
They are identical except that the 3rd has a one inch tear
and the 10th has a sunned spine. Which brings up a question
- which dj has lost the least value - the torn or the sunned?

Depends. The tear can be restored whilst the sunning can not be.

Thank you. Yes, the tear is a simple one and I have pH
neutral adhesives. So I will keep that jacket on the 3rd
printing.

Just putting it in one of those plastic dust jacket protectors will
probably conceal most of the tear, and will also prevent it from
getting worse.
