I was helped by this site : http://www.stampmasteralbum.com/Fore...er/Hi/Iran.htm The country is Iran and it represents the Ministry of Justice in Teheran 50 Dinars, issued in 1944 Scott # 886 Yvert & Tellier # 687 Minimal value : 0.15 Euro or $ HTH -- All the best, Regards Pierre Courtiade |

BTW, I couldn't find images of the frp participants in this years Champerret. I suppose that the reason was their weak participation. Not so many contributors nowadays here on RCSD :-(
Unfortunately, it is more than true. Interest in all world collections has been dropping as many can not afford to 'keep up' with the spurious flood of 'issues'. Many, as myself, have specialized in limited areas. I 'trashed' my US collection when they went to garbage issues in the 1980's. Cut back my GB to pre-decimal and have further cut back to acquiring primarily QV period. All that said, there's little of interest here for me, though I 'monitor' to aid where it falls within my area of study. You might like seeing: http://philately.ttrr.org/gb/gb04008.html |

Same for me : from the 1st of January 2001, I stopped buying the rubbish produced by the French Post. At that date the Euro became the official currency of France and the face values were then written only in Euros. I had nothing against the adoption of the Euro but it was a symbolic date. At that date France has issued 3442 "ordinary" stamps (plus the "back of the book" ones like Air Post, Postage Due, Pre-Cancelled, ...) Amongst the 3442 my want list consists of about 10 stamps and I do not think I will ever be abble to buy all of them :-) So I decided to limit myself to the 106 stamps of the "Classic" period (1849-1900) and to acquired stamps of better quality from that period. I also decided to begin to collect Australia after acquiring some 8 000 Australian stamps in a kiloware sale. And I was delighted and still am in discovering the philately of this country that I visited lengtly in 2 occasions. All that said, there's little of interest here for me, though I 'monitor' to aid where it falls within my area of study. The same for me : I continue to come here and try to help if possible. You might like seeing: http://philately.ttrr.org/gb/gb04008.html Thanks for this quite interesting site. I noticed there is a chapter on Australia that I will visit in detail ASAP ! -- All the best, Pierre Courtiade |

Identification of your stamp was not easy as the country name is written only with the arabic / persian alphabet and I do not read it. Congratulations, good job. Thanks, Victor :-) BTW, Pedro sent me a very kind personal mail to thank me as well. BTW, I couldn't find images of the frp participants in this years Champerret. I suppose that the reason was their weak participation. Good point, Victor ! On the 1st day there was only one person from frp On the 2d day we were 3 for a a drink on "Timbres Magazine" 's stand followed by a friendly lunch in a nearby restaurant 2 persons were present on the 3rd day and nobody on the last day ! Thus no picture taken and placed on the web by myself. On the 3rd day you may be interested to see this short (1 min 40 sec) video taken by Gauthier Toulemonde, Chief-Editor of Timbres Magazine : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GKKksF3V4mo The stamps that changed your life (or your collections) From frp, you can see Bernard Calmettes speaking of the variety (error of colour) of a stamp depicting Louis the XIV (second to be interviewed). And Michel Bablot (third to be interviewed) explaining that as a young boy, he was not allowed the touch nor to leaf through his father's collection, so he decided to start his own collection ! -- All the best, Pierre Courtiade |

So I decided to limit myself to the 106 stamps of the "Classic" period
(1849-1900) and to acquired stamps of better quality from that period. Haunt eBay and don't be afraid to contact the seller and make an offer on a 'buy it now' listing. I've managed some early mint GB that way. I also decided to begin to collect Australia after acquiring some 8 000 Australian stamps in a kiloware sale. And I was delighted and still am in discovering the philately of this country that I visited lengtly in 2 occasions. You should find a copy of Brusden-White if you are going to study OZ in detail. They're the Yvert specialised of OZ. You'll also need access to a 'black light' for the few issues in ordinary and 'phosphor' coated. Thanks for this quite interesting site. I noticed there is a chapter on Australia that I will visit in detail ASAP ! It's only fair, just a few items, though I'm 97% complete as singles. Happy hunting! JA |

Sorry for this long delay answering you :-(
"Sir F.A. Rien" : Haunt eBay and don't be afraid to contact the seller and make an offer on a 'buy it now' listing. I've managed some early mint GB that way. Thanks for the trick ! You should find a copy of Brusden-White if you are going to study OZ in detail. They're the Yvert specialised of OZ. Yes I know the reputation of the Brusden-White. I have seen that the set of 9 volumes is at 645 AUS $ plus postage http://www.brusden-white.com.au/ I am not sure I will ever be able to buy them You'll also need access to a 'black light' for the few issues in ordinary and 'phosphor' coated. I imagine you are speaking of the 'helecon paper' stamps Yes I have already two UV lamps, for each of the wavelengths used by the different countries. -- All the best, Pierre Courtiade |

Right now there are three copies of the 1988 edition available for under US$90. One in OZ and two in the UK. Yes, it's 'old' but it has most of the necessary information until/if you specialize in a period and need one of the 'new' edition volumes. It may be the one in OZ at it will take 3 weeks to arrive ! A nice Xmas present :-) The shipping cost of 6 € is reasonable.
