Just a few questions on Hawaii.

.....and yes, I fell for it, I am man enough to admit, I went looking for
a man named "elua keneta" which is Hawaiian for 2c

see top left

Is the US style footprint cancel "2" Hawaiian?

The 1852 13c (which I shall never own) is inscribed "HL and US postage"

Is that a catalogue error? or does "HL" stand for something else?

and another off topic question, What is the past tense of "to text"
Texted? doesn't sound right.

That's "H.I. & U.S. Postage". H.I. = Hawaiian Islands.
I have a very old stamp dealer's catalogue that listed Hawaii under
the Sandwich Islands. I wonder when the change in nomenclature became
official.

Apparently never,
I see some web sites for tourism currently under "Sandwich Islands"

and from
http://www.nps.gov/history/nagpra/fe...r/nic1023.html
The term "Sandwich Island"
fell into disuse in the late 19th century,
