Do you really need this explained?
When culture (history) used to be tought it was just history and it pretty
much ignored any non-white elements except in the typical and often
inaccurate ways. Thus eventually "enlightened" people wanted to include
the study of the overlooked cultures. The reason "white" culture isn't
mentioned by name it because it has been the defacto standard of history
and culture that is tought. Saying American Histiry is White American
History was redundant.
