Default Using stock sheets: stamp size problem

I would like to ask those collectors who use stock sheets: what do you
do, when your stamps vary in size?

Yes, I know, there are different types of stock sheets for different
sizes of stamps. But I don't think a typical collection would be
arranged by size. Even the same set can have stamps of different
sizes. And when a set accompanied by a souvenir sheet, which has
bigger size than any of the stamps in the set, what do you do then?

In other words, is it OK to let some of the larger stamps on a stock
sheet page to protrude out of pockets? Won't it lead to stamps getting
damaged?

Depends on which country you collect,
I find most stamps are covered by the matrix of stock sheets,
Souvenir sheets can be used in 2 row, or perhaps even a complete page.
(US "wild west" for example)
I have just finished the complete US and 6 row and 5 row covered just about
all,
7 row took all the 50 (1940) artists poets etc on one page.
the "age of reptiles" is about the biggest format and that is covered easily
by the 5 row.
The verticals I lay on their side.
Stock sheets are precisly that, and not meant for display, but they do me.
Now, if you collect Mongolia, then you may have a problem
I would strongly avoid having stamps protude over the flap, a big no no.
just go down one setting eg 5 row to 4 row. (hang the cost
Dont be afraid to have stamps out of Catalogue sequence,
most can be attractively displayed within reason.
Keep you eye open at auctions for stock sheets, thay can be picked
up from time to time at about 50c a page.(half price)

My collection is topical. It's Olympics, which are displayed
chronologically. A lot of sets are followed by souvenir sheets, and I
simply can't put all the souvenir sheets from different sets and
Olympiads together, it would violate the order...

Pasha:

Have you thought to use STAMP MOUNTS instead of STOCK SHEETS?

That way you can cut strips of the correct size and mount them
on a blank album page. Mounts come in many sizes.
Some I have used come in 210 or 215 mm to 265 mm wide strips and they
are found in heights up to 158mm.

Believe it or not, that's exactly what I am considering right now as
we speak :-)

Of course, it will be a pain, but then I won't have any problems
moving stamps around when needed.

The only problem with mounting is that the are no longer mobile if you
want to move or change things, whereas with stock sheets they are.
Mounts for the bigger stuff can be expensive when compared to stock
sheets which can be used over and over for other collections. My
preference in this instance is to use the plastic Vario type stock
sheets. G&K makes them too and they are somewhat cheaper than the Vario
brand.

I just wish someone made "combined" sheets: say, 3 small pockets and 1
large (for souvenir sheets)...

I have the same problem as I collect German combination issues which
come in all sorts of shapes and sizes. Many years (maybe 5) ago I bought
a whole load of stock pages from the stamp shop in Port Phillip Arcade
in Melbourne(any Ozzie able to help with a name?). The pages have no
holes so a quick trip through the 3 hole punch was needed. Each page
has 5 strips of different sizes - the largest is a third of a page, the
smallest is the size of a Hindenburg definitive. Where they got them
from I have no idea and ditto whether they have any of them left but
they have been a lifesaver for my collection.
