Rather have a cleaned coin than a counterfeit.

Unless less than 30 years old (MOL), a very high percentage of silver
coins have been "worked on" at some point in their lifetimes.

American collectors are more than a little squirrelly about this
because we have so many nice Morgans, which are an aberration to the
reality and nature of silver.

One of the top numismatic "dirty little secrets".

Funny thing is that many collectors accepted "cleaned" coins in their
collections until they were later told by hobby leaders how horrible and
worthless cleaned and damaged coins are. A check on eBay and in several
high end auctions show numerous cleaned and holed/plugged selling for pretty
impressive sums. Obviously not all collectors drank the Kool Aid.

You can still get something for a cleaned coin, try selling a none
ancient counterfeit without any silver or gold in it and labeling the
coin as such.

I have no stick stuck up my ass about any past or future posts in this
forum. I pretty much get to the point when talking about coins without
insults. I hope you luck with your endeavors in coins.
