Coin and Slab Wood Displays? Where to find quality????
I am looking for some fine hardwood (walnut or cherry) cases made for
PCGS style slabs. I am looking for something nice, American Made, with a nice real velvet lining. Not that foam stuff or molded plastic with a flocked surface. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks! |

Typically, these are nicely hinged but the top will not lay all the way back. The lid/back stops at 90 degrees, in an "L" shape, and cannot be displayed while open inside of a locked "Allstate"-style display case. A couple of years ago, the Airtite people had some wood cases that they considered "defective" because the lids/tops did lay all the way back (to 180 degrees). I happily acquired two of them. The cardboard insert that fits in the Airtite wood case can be obtained in a configuration for slabbed coins. I am not sure if they offer a "velvet" looking insert. oly |

You might find these wooden boxes interesting as they have glass top so you can show off your coins. http://www.leuchtturm.com/epages/leu...ies/DE/DE_2335 I am extensively using them (desk-top mounted) and I am very happy. I also have 10 (big) AirTite wooden boxes and yes, you are right about them. It seems that some of those "defective" boxes are in my possession, too, and I am quite happy they are..."defective";-) rgrds -- E' mai possibile, oh porco di un cane, che le avventure in codesto reame debban risolversi tutte con grandi puttane! I can make up anything you want. All you have to do is forward a drawing to me of exactly what you want. I charge $25.00 an hour shop time plus materials. Walnut and cherry are $5 a bd.ft.. I'm located in Southern Maryland. but will ship. Greg Ferris "beekeep" honeybs (at) radix (dot) net |
