Default Catalogue for South Australia officials?

What would be the best source for variations in South Australia
officials overprints, both "O.S." and departmental?

Bonus points for something under $300. ;^)

Thanks,

Not to like? Nothing. :^) I just don't have a copy. :^)

In my accumulation of about 100 O.S. overprints, I have seen many
variations in position, in addition to the Scott-documented (Classic
Specialized) typefaces, spacing, etc. Something that could give me
information on the existence (if any) of double strikes, inverts,
minor variations, etc. -- along with catalogue prices or relative
rarities -- would be very nice. It would also help me discern whether
the color differences in overprints I see are original or changeling.

Is there something along those lines? Or does SG cover this in
sufficient depth? (You will have to help an ignorant American he
to which Gibbons volume do you refer?)

I was thinking, in the main re the departmentals.
With the OS overprints and punctures you may need the ASC
Australian Specialists Catalogue perhaps. (pricey)

The normal SG does not address these in sufficient depth (that I have seen
anyhows)
I seem to remember Glen Stephens reporting on a very
pricy pair of OS opts recently sold for a fortune.

Your best bet would be to contact the Perth dealer Ian Boulton
who worked for Gibbons
http://www.acestampauctions.com/

He may have a small edition that addresses your issues.

He will be busy this week, he has an Auction in Perth tommorow.

Joshua, if you view that auction catalogue
from Ace auctions, happening tomorrow,
they have two departmentals P=police and MB =marine board
$50 and $70 respectively.
You can check next week for realised prices

Hi Joshua,

What about the APRL? You can borrow the book(s) you need to see if it
is what you are looking for. I believe they will still make copies,
at a cost per page, of sections you need. Might be easier and cheaper
in the long run.

Hi Jerry,

I could not find the book Rodney described at the APRL. I will call
the librarians Monday to see if I'm missing it.

I do see "The postage stamps of South Australia" (James) and "The
departmental stamps of South Australia" (Butler)

Thanks for the idea.

Thank you. The article references something titled "The Australian
Commonwealth Specialists' Catalogue". Maybe that's what I need. ;^)

Yes, but organising the paperwork for the second mortgage, is time
consuming.

This was the article I first thought of
but not valuable just an oddity
