I have probably two dozen unique classic collections on dead countries, each
page beautiful enough to frame -- with maps and pictures. I want to keep it
simple, is the best way to require checks only and wait till they clear? Some
guidance please guys

You could use Paypal for payments / receipts.

Blair

Just what I was going to say....

I have been using PayPal on Ebay for some time now, with no problems at all!
The Seller's charges are quite reasonable.

David.

Thanks for your advice, I agree that checks will be the best way to go. Cash
scares me as someone might claim they sent it when they didn't. I have
virtually stopped dealing with folks requiring cash over $10, figuring I can
afford to loose it. Ive had three instances in the last year of folks saying
they never received cash sent.

OK, after some spirited discussion here and in my email, here is another one
that caught my eye. No gouging on postage here, but after seeing this lot, it
really makes me wonder what I might get if I won other lots this seller has to
offer.

Just look at the feedback rating. Tells it all that there "may" be
trouble.

Seller seems to sell a lot of mint no gum, mint skips, and
the best of all - almost mint. 8*)

Buyer Beware!

Hmmm... I wonder if the Post Office offers a discount on
Almost-Mint 1st. Class Postage Stamps at the moment?

So if I'm understanding this right, this seller is selling worthless
pieces of perforated paper with a picture of a pricey stamp on it. I don't
know which is sadder, a person selling worthless junk like this for those
prices or the dopes bidding on them.
This creates a whole new industry in the hobby. Print up stamps on
your computer, perforate them and then sell on eBay. Think I'll pass on it.

I've been lucky and had good buyers with one exception (a guy who complained
about the work he would have to do on a batch of used on and off paper
stamps)
On the other hand my dad has sold 2 cars and had non-paying bidders on both
plus some kind of car part that someone did not pay for. If you have a
non-paying bidder you can get your final value fees back but it's a pain.
With paypal I have gotten my money back on an item I never recieved by
cancelling the charge on my credit card, which is what paypal will tell you
to do while they cancel the transaction.

I'd look at his other sales before jumping the gun. Make sure that
the other lots look as described and the feedback was appropriate. A
random sample may make your day a little brighter after you come to
your own conclusion on this.

Before I started selling, I did a bunch of research on eBay - looking
around, seeing the lay of the land and so forth. Still didn't help me
too much later on, but I found I could manouver a bit faster and
better than some.

I have, since then, found that there are just as many, if not many
more, bad buyers than bad sellers. I have seen 4 bad buyers of my
stuff pertaining to 11 lots. Very little money. This has been since
April 10th, since I started selling on eBay.

It does happen and it stinx.

Personally I try to charge actual shipping and I only add a packing charge
if I have to go out and buy special packing (like for the telescope I sold,
needed special packing and about 4 boxes). If I have to charge packing it's
always actual cost too.

Could see it today, but not last night for some reason. The bock is worth
about 8c, never any more. So the buyer, if in the US will pay at total of
$1.45 for the lot, postage fee & his own postage. Is this a rare plate
number though I'm not aware of any rare plate numbers in this series?
Probably another seller who is unloading low-cost stuff and figures to
make big profits from his auctions. Send me $1.00 in U.S./ $2.00 outside

of
U.S. and I'll send you this very same plate block free.
I have said it before and again... I don't gouge buyers for postage.
They, in a sense, are doing me a favour. They buy my excess that I could
not otherwise trade or use and I get money! I even get used stamps for my
own collection as a bonus. Even more a few have sent some very nice

covers
which remain intact. If that was not enough, I have two of my buyers as
friends. Profiting on postage is not the purpose.
