Default Machin album???

The recent question about hinges, and the responses with links to=20
Subway's web site prompted me to poke around some.

Subway lists four Lighthouse albums or probably really just sets of=20
album pages) that they have dubbed "Gr Br MACHIN 1970-1993" and "Gr Br=20
MACHIN 1993-2000 see

http://www.subwaystamp.com/shop/prod...D&subtype=3D&=
search=3Dmachin&p=3D2&sort=3D&d=3D

Then, out of curiosity I looked at Lighthouse's web site. (Which=20
unfortunately uses frames so I can't give a direct link, but if you=20
enter their on-line shop at http://www.leuchtturm.com/ and click on=20
on-line catalogue, albums, pages, etc., etc.) The nearest thing I can=20
find is named, merely, "Great Britain, definitive and regionals, special =

varieties, 1970-1993" and "1994-2000."

Except for one that's close, none of Subway's "MSRP prices" correspond=20
to Lighthouse's so it's hard to correllate which Subway item is the=20
corresponding Lighthouse item.

When I was at SG's shop in the Strand last December I looked to see=20
what, if anything, they had, which is nothing.

I once asked Robin Harris, the author of=20
http://www.adminware.ca/machin.htm (a very good site, BTW.) what he uses =

for an album, and IIRC he indicated that he makes his own album pages;=20
but he apparently has no plans to make them available for others.

Stampalbums.com has pages -- it's a $20 subscription to access them on=20
the web. The Machinbase database has an album page printing feature --=20
it's =C2=A350. Various Machin clubs have "basic" album pages they'll sell=
=2E I=20
can always make my own with a word processor too.

Since receiving my Deegam catalogue I've gotten the bug to work on=20
sorting the huge box of Machin's I have.

Mostly I'm just thinking out loud, so to speak. I don't imagine, even=20
for a minute, that anyone's 30 or 50+ page album could begin to be=20
adequate for all the Machin varieties, but I'm wondering what, if=20
anything, everyone else is using for their Machin collection. Are you=20
happy with it? Why or why not?

I have always used plain album pages - no 'pre-printed' album page
could do a specialised machin collection justice (IMHO).

I don' recall making the "no plans" comment. When I have finished my Machin
album pages (there will be at least two 'types'), I will certainly make them
available to others.

I am *hoping* to finally have them available sometime this fall. Keep
checking my website for any new news on them.

I devised Deegam Profiles for just this problem. They are detailed in the
new Handbook (pages A7-19 to A7-21). They contain visual and factual
information for writing up a collection formed on Deegam lines, including
the arrangements of phosphor bars and the exact perforations. There is one
for every listed stamp. I am busy creating the new sets. They will be
available in the Autumn (Fall). You can keep these in mounts, stock books,
on album pages (mounted alongside the stamps) etc. You can use them as
portable wants lists.
