Default Millennium Banknotes

In year 2000 the following 7 countries issued notes to commemorate the new
Millennium: China, Gibraltar, Guernsey, Hungary, North Ireland, New Zealand
and Papua New Guinea. Any others besides the 7?

Not really a banknote issue persay, but the Chatham Islands somewhere out in
the backwaters of the Pacific saw fit to issue a speculative banknote issue.
These were being peddled on fleaBay for a time.

Another though real banknote issue was a 2000 Lei banknote from Romania
commemorating same event, in addition I think it commemed an eclipse seen in
Romania. Interesting note.

Don't whether that one would actually qualify as a "millennium note" but
it is interesting indeed. (A polymer note, by the way.) As for that
eclipse, it could be experienced elsewhere as well - my friend and I
went to Wissembourg (Alsace, France) on that day to see it :-)

There's a Northern Bank 5 Pounds commemorative as well. And I wonder why
Dave didn't mention the Clydesdale Bank 10 and 20 Pounds.

I'm sure there are more.

That was one of the most fascinating events I've ever witnessed! I remember
getting up in the middle of the night on that day, and chasing after the
first spot of blue sky west of Aachen, which I reached a bit north of Paris
just 30 minutes before the eclipse started. By the way, when will the next
eclipse be seen in Western Europe?

Fiji issued a $2.00 (P-94) note and I believe a $2,000 note specifically
for the Millennium (I don't have my catalog with me at the moment to
verify the $2,000 note).

This post got me thinking would it be possible to collect a 0, 1000AD
and 2000AD 'commerative' set. My be interesting but I'd expect the
older types to be coins... just a wondering thought...

Oh, and I know why Dave didn't mention the Clydesdale Bank example I
think the question was about which Countries, and Scotland's not a
country is it...?

Thanks
Darren

I'm looking to get the Clydesdale £10 and £20 millennium notes for my
Millennium note exhibit if the price is right. Don't need matching serial
numbers.
I believe Romania 2000 Lei commemorates the 1999 solar eclipse rather than
the Millennium.
Thanks for the reponses.

About the same here. We first wanted to go to Stuttgart (from
Düsseldorf) but then went to Strasbourg and stayed overnight there.
Well, the decision to not go to Stuttgart turned out to be a good one
(rain and clouds there), but the weather in Strasbourg was not great
either. So we drove north and stopped somewhere south of Wissembourg
where we could see the eclipse. Fascinating indeed ...

The next total eclipse can be seen in Europe in March 2006. Not exactly
in Western E., however, but only in places like Crete and (Asian) parts
of Turkey. The next one to be seen in Germany will be in 2081 :-)
