Earlier this year a poster from a bluegrass discussion group
I am on mentioned he had been given a 1976 minty Lincoln to make his runs to
a larger city for his cancer treatments. The car had a factory 8 track
player and he was wondering if anyone had any bluegrass or country carts he
could play in it (he is from a farming community with no access to second
hand shops). He also wondered about cassette adapters as he had heard there
was such a thing and he still owned lots of cassettes. I have a pretty big
stash of adaptors so I sent him one as well as two bluegrass 8 track carts
(with new sensor tape and pads). He was pretty tickled when he got them.
Anyway, he died this week. But you have to think that listening to 8 track
tapes while blasting down a Midwest U.S. highway in a primo older Link must
have added a degree of happiness to his last days.
