The Peter Pauper Press Now Collectible?
Hi, It seems that The Peter Pauper Press books now have some higher values. I
had a hunch about five years ago this would happen and tried to buy them when I saw them. I can definitely understand why, they are always good titles and sometimes have good art. -- Robert Pearson http://www.rspearson.com/ ParaMind Brainstorming Software http://www.paramind.net |

I can definitely understand why, they are always good titles and sometimes have good art. Could you be more specific? The older PP books, from the '20s & '30s and earlier, when they were doing fine-press limiteds, have long had significant value. But since the '50s, as I'm sure you know, they've been issuing mostly inexpensive, pocket-sized "gift books"--a few of which were, I think, reprints of the nicer editions they'd done previously. These generally sell in the $1-$5 range, used. I haven't noticed any big change in those prices recently--I just picked up 5 or 6 myself for a buck apiece. PP has also done some (relatively) larger, slipcased editions, and these sell for a little more. Which PP books are you seeing increase in value? -- Jon Meyers (To reply, lose your way) |

I once had a set of Peter Pauper WONDERLAND, and THROUGH THE LOOKING
GLASS in a half leather binding that looked suspiciously like a publisher's special binding... sold them before I could really discover anything abou them...anybody here ever had leatherbound PPP's? |

For some reason, the aol's newsgroup reader has been broken for two
days. The PPP's I'm referring to are varied. Just do a search in bookfinder with "peter pauper" in the keywords and look at the classic authors or such things as "BEN FRANKLIN'S WIT AND WISDOM" or "Laundered Limericks from Wicked Pens." The prices I'm talking about are in the $15 to $50 range, nothing that expensive. I seemed to have randomly selected the more expensive ones on my first browse, but now I do see there are also a lot of cheap ones. wrote: I once had a set of Peter Pauper WONDERLAND, and THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS in a half leather binding that looked suspiciously like a publisher's special binding... sold them before I could really discover anything abou them...anybody here ever had leatherbound PPP's? |
