Eh ? quote The book featured here is one of the early prints from 1964 /quote From the long list on the back of the tite page - 16th printing 1964 17th printing 1964 18th printing 1964 19th printing 1964 20th printing 1964 and those are just the paperback printings. Take a look. Good condition, If that what you describe as "good condition" then I wouldn't want to see the state of your living conditions at home. selling cheap. You've gone to a lot of trouble over something that's worth about 20p. I'd just stick to what you know, if I were you. michael adams |

Asking prices on ABE are from $1 to $20: http://tinyurl.com/kuh66 The higher-priced copies are unlikely to sell. Your copy appears to be in "very good" condition (in booksellers' terms, "good" = "not very good", and "fine" = flawless; "very good" is somewhere in between). The lowest asking price on ABE for a copy described as "very good" is $2. I think most UK charity shops would probably price it at between 50p and a quid. BTW, rec.collecting.books is a forum for discussion of issues relating to bookcollecting. Your second post is more on-topic, but "for sale" notices generally don't promote much discussion and are considered "bad form" in this newsgroup (http://www.massmedia.com/~mikeb/rcb/#2). "Football Fan" wrote in message oups.com... Ha. Ok so it's not super duper rare. But surely it is still worth more than 20p.... maybe 2pounds? 20 pounds? John has answered the value question for you. Just to show I wasn't putting you away over the condition, here's a copy nearer to good condition - except for the crease on the top right and the slight wear at the top of the spine. As you can see, none of the hinge down the spine is worn away, as it is on yours, and the front corners remain sharp. http://i10.tinypic.com/4g7wq4m.jpg Oh and I payed 3/6 for that one, in 1964. To read. The paper on most early Pan paperbacks is starting to turn brown now. Occasionally it's possible to find the odd crisp copy of an early Pan knocking around in charity shops where the paper is still nearer white. That would be what a collector would be looking for, when paying top dollar for a desirable edition. Which this one sadly isn't. I don't actually collect Pan myself only Penguins and Pelicans but I can seldom resist books in exceptionally good conditions going cheep, cheep, cheep. michael adams |
