Off-center South Carolina quarter
I've posted a not-so-great photo of an off-center South Carolina quarter to
abpn, whose owner says it's also missing the reeding, and I'd like to know the proper error designation for the coin as well as it's approx. value. Thanx. |

Thanx. A coin struck off center shouldn't have reeding, should it? It's not in the coining chamber, not completely, that is, just partially. So the collar would not surround the planchet, and thus there wouldn't be any reeding. A railroad rim, however, would be a different story. The planchet would be partially vertically in the chamber, I think. Actually, the collar would be partially raised, I think. HTH. Aram. |
