"Sam Flanigan" sadly reported: Thanks to all who gave their prayers for my mother around christmas time, but this morning, she passed. Sam, this is one of those difficult times that all of us face at some point. Even though we know it's coming, that makes it no easier to bear. With others here in the group, my heart goes out to you and to your family. Years ago I wrote some thoughts about the 23rd Psalm by Henry Ward Beecher in the front of my Bible. It seems appropriate to share them with you at this time. ----- "Blessed be the day when this psalm was born. It speaks in every language on the globe. It has charmed more griefs to rest than all of the philosophies of the world. It has remanded to their dungeon more felon thoughts, more black doubts, more thieving sorrows, than there are sands on the seashore. It has comforted the noble host of the poor. It has sung courage to the army of the disappointed. It has poured balm and consolation into the hearts of the sick, of captives in dungeons, of widows and widowers in their pinching griefs, and orphans in their loneliness." ----- My thoughts are with you in this time. I'm calling out your name to the One who loves you most, asking Him to provide your needs. Larry |

The last coin she really observed, was the PCGS PF69CAM Ike I received from
my christmas trading partner, and she thought it was one of the most beautiful coins she had ever seen. Sam- I'm delighted that your mom was able to appreciate lovely coins until the end. I know you have lived with this for a long time, and that you knew her time was at an end. She is now in a better place, and I sincerely wish, after you come to terms with your grief, that 2005 is an improvement for you and the rest of your family, too. I, too, deal with COPD and appreciate the struggles involved. Best wishes. Tom |

Its hard to believe, she has always been there for us.. its going to be difficult for quite a while.. She gave up a very nasty fight, thats been going on for many years, but COPD finally took her life. She was 73, and I have many boxes of lincolns, including $25 of BU 1984-Ds she saved during the L.A. olympics. Her thing was errors, and I have many to go thru, that she pulled from buying rolls at the banks. More BIE's that you would believe. It will get out soon tho. Again, thanks for your prayers, but she is now breathing freely again, and seeing those she has not seen in years. Sam Flanigan My condolences Sam..My prayers are with ya as this will be a tough time for ya. Regards, Gary Loveless |

COPD is a debilitating disease, and most people don't understand unless someone close to them has it. I've lived with it for six years now, and it is no fun. -- K6AZ WEB PAGES http://www.k6az.com/web_pages.htm |

Believe it or not, that was over two years ago (last time I was in the hospital). My COPD was primarily caused by infection damage while pneumonia went undiagnosed. Of course, smoking for 15 years did not help. One thing I am thankful for, and where there is a big difference between damage caused by smoking versus damage caused otherwise, is that my FEV1 value has been stable for the last three years. It has remained at 27% in seven different tests. Of course, this isn't good, but for the most part I can function realizing my limitations. -- K6AZ WEB PAGES http://www.k6az.com/web_pages.htm |
