Liable to Letter Rate
The 5 word limit also applied in Canada up into the 1950s. It also applied to Christmas cards that were mailed at a reduced rate (2c) but over 5 words on your message caused a first class (letter) rate to apply (4c local city, 5c rest of country) Blair |
