I just got back from grocery shopping at Winn Dixie
and walked pass the Coinstar machine and saw a coin in the coin return and
picked it up....it was a 1964 XF silver quarter....

It must have been left behind by someone who thought it was fake.

while its a nice find, i ways wondered if taking it is not some form of
theft. this is not a pointed criticism. just my own leeriness of who the
true owner of these items belong to.

You've got to be kidding me. The silver quarter dropped out into the
reject tray on the coinstar, someone didn't scoop it out, and you're
saying it's theft to take it rather than try to find the "owner"?
You're wrong on so many levels here, from both an ethical and a
practical approach. How much effort do you suggest one should exert to
find out who lost $3.00 worth of silver due to their own ignorance?

i guess my "true owner" in this case, being the people who put the coinstar
machine at that location. is it not one of the benefits of owning such
machine the coins that are left behind?

He obviously doesn't want silver coins, or his machine wouldn't put them
in the reject tray.

No, I'd suspect the 10% skim off the top is probably what he's going
for. Hard to predict random silver finds, a set percentage is much
easier to use as a business justification for siting a machine.

There are a lot of interesting topics here, but this one is having a
hard time holding even a passing interest for me, so I hope you don't
mind if I move on.

Hinz, you putz, nobody cares if you drop dead.
Most, in fact, long for that moment.
