In Person Success

Last night I went to see Rudy Ray Moore, aka Dolemite/Petey Wheatstraw.
In case you don't know who he is Rudy Ray was the king of 70's
blaxploitation and "godfather of rap". He put out a ton of LPs on the
Kent record label back in the 60s-70s and is cited as an influence by
rappers like Snoop Dogg, Jay-Z and others that I don't know. LOL He
is a very racy comic and at 80 he still has it going on. After the
show he posed for photos, and signed at his merchandise table. I
bought a Dolemite poster reprint, which he signed, along with two of my
Rudy Ray Moore LPs, The Cockpit and RRM Christmas Album, and a photo of
him and I together from the last time he was in town. His prices are
reasonable, too, at $3 for a photo, $5 for posters, $15 for T-shirts.
If you ever get a chance to meet RRM, like at Chiller next week(!), do
it. He's a blaxploitation legend and at 80 I'd venture to say he won't
be making alot of appearances in the future.
