But I suspect that ebay sellers don't read the responses they get in
Usenet groups, they only want the responses that are made to ebay.

However, if you get to a Usenet group through groups.google.com, one of
the available options is to reply directly to the person who posted.

I suspect you're right, but I also cc'd the OP on my reply (removing the
ironic "nospam" from his email address). I posted to the newsgroup because I
think it does some good in the long run to have a consistent record that the
group as a whole doesn't want for sale ads here. I figured it was my turn.

I went to the source: his ISP, eBay and the spammer himself....via
email. Made my point, actually got a polite response.
