Default (RCSD) French Sower Handbook

I'll begin a new thread because the question comes under an other title
and I don't find where!

I'll give you here some books where you can find informations:

- first, and the best, : les timbres postes au type Semeuse Camée de
1907 auteurs Jean STORCH et Robert FRANCON, Tome I: 5 à 20c Tome 2 25 à
35c + BFE (= bureaux français à l'étranger)! This 2 books where issued
in 1981, I had paid mine 240F (37 ¤ now) in 1982 and it is sometimes
possible to buy it at auctions between 50 and 100 ¤!!

- a little book very interesting to help to distinguish the different
types: "Le dictionnaire des semeuses à types multiples" de Pierre
MARION, issued 1974 never seen in auctions (but I see not all French
auctions...), it was often sold with a second book from same author
Dictionaire des types Taille douce et Typographie (1928-1966) The price
in 1975 for the 2 was nearly the same: 300F (45 e).

- to help for all kind of questions it is interesting to have one of
the 2 Mariannes catalogues, issued in 1983/84 or 1984/5 ; it is
possible to find one for 10/15 ¤ very easily, on Delcampe.net or here
at stamp markets (last market I was I saw some for 15 ¤)! I can make
you one or 2 scan that you can see what it is!

- if you search inforations about booklets, Yvert is issuing a
catalogue on the booklets, very nice and very expensive (go to
http://www.yvert.com/F_frame.html?http://www.yvert.com/

If your E-Mail is good in Neederland I can send you copy of some pages
I have began to scan!! But I have still pages and pages on side I have
to scan, but I must find time!!

For to day enough, if you have any question I'll try to answer or to
see on fr.rec.philatelie (in French) if someone has the answer!!

Best wishes, and have a nice week end.

After this you can find some pages of French stamp newspaaper! I have
began

Hi everybody,

Very useful answer, Jean-Paul !
I'll keep that list for any future use when I may find some time to sort
my hundreds of "Sowers" (may be in another life ???)
:-))))

In addition to Jean-Paul's list, in the :

"Catalogue Spécialisé des Timbres de France"
Volume 2 (Published by Yvert & Tellier in 1982),

there are also about 15 pages describing in great details the different
types of the French Sower stamps.

I had no time to compare that with the information included in the two
Marianne catalogs (issued in 1983/84 and in 1984/85) that I also have.

But if Jean-Paul (or Bruno ?) think it could be different, I could scan
those 15 pages and send them to Tim (or to anybody else interested).

HTH

yes I have also this catalogue, but I like and use more the volume 1!!

The pages are interesting, most things are similar with other books,
but it is always interessing to have more description, pictures of
different types, and explanation written by different people!!

In the same idea it is also interesting to buy catalogue DALLAY, the
give scan of détails to distinguish the types, you can so see that on a
real stamps it sometimes more dificult then with hand made pictures!!!

Have a nice sunday.
