Default Token identification problem

I am having difficulty identifying a token I found. I am not really
familiar with tokens (which isn't helping) so I'm not even sure where to
look. I think it is a Lincoln Presidential Campaign token but there is no
date on it and I have not been able to find a description matching this one
on the net. If anyone can offer any clues or suggestions, I'd welcome the
assistance. Thanks in advance.

Sorry I can't be of help, but I think it's a really spiffy looking
piece. What is the size? Composition I guess is copper or bronze. It
almost looks like it is reeded -- is this so? Is there any edge
lettering?

Try the treasuredepot.com site. They are a metal detecting site & they
have all kinds of information.Just post the information you did on RCC.
When you log on just click on metal detector. Maybe you can lighten up
you pic so we can see the token better.

If it is 22 mm with a reeded edge, it is DeWitt AL 1864-36,
an Abraham Lincoln campaign "button" (token) from 1864.

The DeWitt reference is almost 50 years old and does not
have a modern pricing guide available as far as I know.
You might want to search some of the online auction
databases (i.e., Rich Hartzog's World Exonumia site at
http://www.exonumia.com ) to see if any have been offered
or sold recently.

Originally I thought that it might have been a Civil War Token, but no,
it isn't. It comes very close to the 124 die for the obverse. The
closest reverse die would be a 399, but it doesn't come close. You have
either a political medalet which I know nothing about, or possibly one
of the numerous counterfeits or fakes that came out in the 1960's

try:
http://www.indiana.edu/~liblilly/sho...s_and_hardware

and take a look at the 12/6 description - seems to match the photos you
supplied. Alas no date associated with it - perhaps an e-mail to
"liblilly (at) indiana.edu" would help.
