Default Today's roll search

Today's search of $10 worth of pennies and nickels yieled a well worn
and dirty 1914 D wheat penny. Other wheats include a 1957 and 1946 S.

You grade it "well worn." I think it's F or VF, but with environmental
damage, net AG3. Even at net AG3, a find like this would make my day for
the better part of a year.

I don't have any recent circulation find stories of my own, but my father
recently found a very interesting coin which I have yet to view myself. It
is a 1996 cent struck on an odd planchet. He describes the planchet as dull
grey in color, smaller than a cent planchet but slightly bigger, notably
thicker, and notably heavier than a dime. He also notes that the metal is
solid, as opposed to clad which one would expect of a dime. My first
thought was that this was a planchet intended for a foreign coin, but in a
quick search I couldn't find any foreign coins struck in Philadelphia in
1996.

Any thoughts?
