Default Help in identification

Ladies and Gentlemen
I am looking for the answers to the following questions
1. I have 2 stamps from Malaysia with the legend HASIL on them (
Revenue ? )They show what is presumably the State Coat of Arms. One is
$5 multicoloured arms on a blue background either Litho or photo about
the size of the smallest Canadian definitives in portrait format. The
other is $10 monochrome in brown could be recess or litho and somewhat
larger. They are cancelled with a postmark-like device which contains
"USAT". Can anyone identify the stamps and the usage indicated by the
cancellation?

2. Canada 1969 definitives ( small format ). My old Gibbons
Elizabethan catalogue indicates that these stamps as well as printer
and perf differences were printed on 3 types of paper - toned, white
non-flourescent and white flourescent. The 7c green is shown as toned
paper only. However I have a copy which appears to be on whiter paper
although it is definitively not flourescent. It also appears to be a
somewhat brighter green - although this could be caused by a different
surface on the paper rather than the colour of the ink. Does anyone
have any information or imaginative theories on this?

3. Canada postmark. I have a 1999 Art stamp on which I see part of a
horizontal rectangular postmark. Unfortunately only part of the
postmark is legible but the top line reads (unidentifiable character)
stop M stop P stop P stop (something parcel post ?? ) the middle line
is part of a date and the bottom line is I am sure the start of the
post code L8E. However it is not on brown paper so it is either off a
label stuck on a parcel or from an envelope made fron fairly thick
paper. Is this a common postmark and what is its significance? It
appears to be handstruck.

Any information gratefully acknowledged in advance. If this is
succesful I have several other conundrums in the pipeline

Thanks
Malcolm

Re #3

MPP stands for Mail Processing Plant (super sized mail sorting
plants}. They handle millions of letters and parcels.
Yours is from the one in Stoney Creek, Ontario which serves
the Hamilton-Niagara Falls area. Please see:
http://www.giffels.com/gal/gal4/projects/ind/c-post.htm

L8E are the first 3 characters of the postal code for
the mail processing plant address in Stoney Creek.

For location map, go to:
http://www.canadapost.ca/cpc2/addrm/...exm/tmON-e.asp
and click on HAMILTON.

Blair and Tony
Thanks for the info. One supplementary question about the Malaysian
Inland Revenue Board. Is this Inland Revenue in the GB sense i.e.
Income Tax or as in sense of all Internal Revenue purposes?
Malcolm

=================================================

The Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia is
known as Lembaga Hasil Dalam Negeri Malaysia
in Malay.

THE INLAND REVENUE BOARD OF MALAYSIA

The Inland Revenue Malaysia is one of
the main revenue collecting agencies
of the Ministry of Finance.

The Department of Inland Revenue Malaysia
became a board on March 1, 1996, and is
now formally known as
THE INLAND REVENUE BOARD OF MALAYSIA.

The Inland Revenue Board was established
in accordance with the Inland Revenue Board
of Malaysia Act 1995 to give it more
autonomy especially in financial and
personnel management; to improve the
quality and effectiveness of tax
administration.

The agency is responsible for
the overall administration of
direct taxes under the following acts :

Income Tax Act 1967
Petroleum (Income Tax) Act 1967
Real Property Gains Tax Act 1976
Promotion of Investment Act 1986
Stamp Act 1949
Labuan Offshore Business Activity Tax Act 1990

I hope this is helpful.

Thank you once again for your assistance. Isn't it wonderful the
amount of information we have locked up in our minds? Unfortunately my
wife is singularly unimpressed when I trot out this sort of
information at the slightest excuse.
Thanks again
Regards
Malcolm
