What would you suggest I do with the one I got from
a stamp vending machine that will not work in other vending
machines?

They don't accept coins at the grocery store?

Joe Fischer asks....

Please don't encourage anymore $ coin posts.

No one's encouraging you to read them...

You need to contact the owner/operator of the laundromat and talk to them about your
desire to use dollar coins instead of dozens of quarters. MANY laundromats have
converted as have many self-serve car washes. Not all, just many. It's up to the
consumers to talk to the operators and let them know what they would prefer.

If anyone want dollar coins, all you have to do is go to the local post
office and put 5, 10, or 20 dollars (currency) into the stamp machine, and
they will give you a whole pocketful of nice new dollars. (At least where

I
live) I like to stop in once a month and get 20 dollars worth, minus

stamp
price of course, and circulate them.
WHEN, will the manufacturers of vending machines figure out that it is so
much easier to use dollar coins than it is to fool around trying to feed a
crumpled one dollar bill into a vending machine!

When I go to the public Laundromat; the washing machines cost $1.75 each and
I use three. The dryers cost $1.00 each and I use two. That's a bunch of
quarters. I sure wish that they would switch to dollar coin slots. Maybe we
need a law mandating that. Sort of like the law mandating digital
televisions by a specific date.

I gave 50 of them to a cashier at Wal-mart today and she held them up to the other
cashiers in her cupped hands and proclaimed: "COOL - I'VE GOT GOLDEN!".

For every poo-pooer there are many people who like using the Golden Dollar. Just like
the posts here. So if you like them, spend lots of them. If you see a negative post, go
out of your way to make 3 times the posts that are positive. It *IS* a coin collecting
newsgroup after all, not a coin hating newsgroup. But, some folks aren;t happy unless
they can hate something and spread their own personal misery to others. What a sad and
pitiful way to live.

Spending them works well for me.

"Fred Shecter" sez...

For every poo-pooer there are many people who like using the Golden Dollar.

No Fred, one more time. For every poo-pooer there are millions of other
poo-pooers and/or those that don't GAS.

For everyone like you, there are perhaps another handful scattered amongst the
cosmos and 2-3 of them have gathered here.

"Those" are the real numbers.

It *IS* a coin collecting newsgroup after all, not a coin hating newsgroup.

It is *not* a $ coin lovers NG either. See above.

"COOL - I'VE GOT GOLDEN!".

"Now would everyone standing in line behind Mr. Shecter please go find another
register. This one is now closed, until such time my Manager can come down out
of his cozy office above and take these 9,5 pounds of gold colored alloy off my
hands, because my register wasn't designed to hold more than 6 of these damn
things."

Mr. Shecter then tells the Manager about the new NCR model SAC-NOW-WOW register
designed to hold nothing but sacs of Gaweas, SBA's and deuces.

Sensing impending lunacy about to erupt, the Manager escorts Mr. Shecter from
the premises, while Fred screams...."I'll call the 800 number on you, you lying
social miscreant you!"

Always here for my fellow syngraphist or oenophile.

That was Mark Twain, upon learning that his obituary had been published.

"I'd rather be in Philadelphia."

-- W.C. Fields
Actually, the quote was: "On the whole, I'd rather be in Philadelphia."

.... it
was what he had requested to be inscribed upon his tombstone. No, not the
pizza. After his death, his relatives did not honor this request, opting

for
the simple epitaph: "William Claude Fields 1880 - 1946"

Some famous (infamous) last words & such:

snip

"Ask for me to-morrow, and you shall find me a grave man."
-- Mercutio, "Romeo and Juliet"
