Oops, another lost opportunity for SNA.

How about a stamp dedicated to the longest English word:
"Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanocon"? It means: a lung disease caused
by the inhalation of volcanic ash, causing inflammation in the lungs.

"...coniosus", no? I think you cheated yourself of five letters. It's
your way on some online word lists, but I think that may be because it
reaches the 40-character (?) limit on the database field.

A grep through the list I compiled from online sources (primarily orchy)
of English words shows 20 words of length 25 or greater, but all but two
are scientific terms -- "antidisestablishmentarianism" is the longest
that is not. The second longest word overall, counting technical terms,
seems to be "dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane" with 32 letters.

If anyone wants the list, please contact me off-list for the URL. I am
wary of posting the URL in the clear here, because it costs me 1.7MB in
traffic every time it's downloaded, and I only want that to be consumed
by real, human readers -- not robots or spiders.

I think the Welsh would be miffed.

Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysilio gogogoch.

"The church of St. Mary in the hollow of white hazel trees near the rapid
whirlpool by St. Tysilio's of the red cave".
