How many of these tapes have been released on to CD? Very few, Why, I
don't why. I guess their is no money to be made. So much great music
out there on 8 that as never been released on CD. Why, I don't why. If
their is no money to be made or no demand for it, you will never see
this stuff on CD.

The problem with a lot (most?) of them is that the quality of the
dupes (on tape) or the pressings (on disc) were crappy. K-Tel and
Ronco were famous for attenuating the bottom end and compressing the
crap out of the master so they could fit even more tracks on a side of
a disc, plug cut WAY into the runout area. The best "compendiums"
I've heard came from the majors. WEA's "Supergroups" series was a
good one, and CRC had more than a few.
