Default Heads Up - Stiffer Parker Sonnet nibs

I have an assortment of Sonnets: Fougere, Premier Blue and Green, Black
Laque, Ruby Red and noticed that the Fougere nib is stiffer. Having one of
those light bulb moments, I called Parker's Customer Service to ask if I
could buy a separate nib section for my Fougere so that I can have the
writing experience of a regular nib and still keep the two-toned Fougere nib
in case I ever want to sell it (beside the fact that I'm way outside of the
free nib exchange window).

The answer was "yes." Unfortunately, Parker redesigned the gold Sonnet nibs
and made them stiffer. The old ones are no longer available from Parker and
you'd have to find a source that still carries the discontinued models.

She also said that the Fougere nib is stiffer than the one-toned nibs
because part of it is rhodium-plated.

So, if you ever thought you'd want a Sonnet and want the springier nib, I
recommend that you get thee hence and buy a NOS (Premier Blue, Green, Red,
etc.) while they're still available.

There is a vendor on ebay who sells parker sonnets at ridiculously low
prices. The seller's name is macrovendor, and is selling from Hong
Kong, and posts sonnets on ebay in large quantities. They start
bidding at $19.99.

My question is, are they knockoffs? After all, they are being sold
from Hong Kong. Does anyone know anything about this seller, or has
bought one of his pens before?

Many Thanks
Ed

instead of making useless comments.

Not much. I think you mean 'read and heed' - it is otherwise pretty
meaningless from the git go. And I think its civet cats that are a
SARS carrier, not just 'cats'. And I'm guessing (again) that fake pens
are really 'counterfeit' pens. They don't have to function well to
rise above 'fake'.

Are you implying it is communist policy to fake branded goods? Well, sorry
to disappoint you. They are in fact made by private enterprise. It is a
chronic problem but I understand the authorities are beginning to do
something about it due to US pressure. BTW, they don't eat cats. They eat
dogs that are reared for their meat. I have not seen it but was related to
me from friends who have travelled there. It makes me sick!

Oh my, Earl Camembert can not educate the entire world. I have
pictures of them eating cats. They keep house cats in pens and hang
them one by on as they are ordered. I will post pictures for you if
you want. Go ahead and buy all the fake merchandize form the Chinks,
enjoy.
