G'day Blair,

Hi Rod,
Your Money Order arrived this morning.
I have ordered the CD for you which will be delivered direct from the UK.
Should arrive in approx 7 days.
Regards
David

My mail took 10 days to reach Victoria
from the "Swan River Colony" :0)
I can't wait to see how long it takes from the UK.

7 days from the UK,
bravo to British Post,
arrived with the customary "splodge" cancel,
I think I am beginning to prefer the felt tip pen.

Ya know, all this Cricket talk has finally made me go out to Wikipedia
and other places to find out how it is played. I always wondered
about the "bowler" and how fast that ball is traveling. Sheesh! Then
I found out that most times it hits the ground. What a relief!

The fastest bowler hits around 120-140Kmh.
A player had his jaw broken in two places
here last week, not from a bowler, but from a fielder.
I am here to tell you, a granite hard ball in the groin
even at 80 kmph is not very pleasant.

One of the most obtuse observations is the feeling
you can have, only if you have played.
The long walk out onto the centre pitch, the "taking guard"
and being surrounded by eleven men wanting to take
your head off.

In the 1970s cricket was regarded as a sport of
'moderate-risk injuries'. These days cricketers are
more susceptible to higher-risk injuries and cricket
ranks fifth among causes of non-fatal accidents.
Elite cricketers are expected to train longer, harder,
and earlier in life to excel in their chosen sport.
The repetitive nature of the game and the need
often to be out on the field of play for long periods
further predispose cricketers to a wide range of
injuries. Injury can occur during any phase of the
game - bowling, batting or fielding - and can involve
any part of the body.

I think most would agree, the enjoyment of the game mostly
comes form the lesser obvious "subtleties " of the game,
swinging and spinning of the ball, and the ability to strike
the ball flying off differing ground or "pitch" conditions.
